Rural Contraceptives Access Campaign Phase 2 (RCAC Plus)

Rural Contraceptive Access Campaign Phase 2 (RCAC Plus) promoted male involvement in family planning through targeted advocacy - directly reaching over 700 boys, men, community members, leaders, policy makes, and health service providers, and data capturing activities such as 6 focus group discussions and 302 interviews on knowledge, attitude, perception and practices of rural boys and men in support of family planning uptake by April, 2018 at Moro and surrounding communities of Ife North Local Government, Osun State, Nigeria.

MyFPTori

MyFPTori is a social interactive forum that provides a platform for people to share their stories on family planning (FP) and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) experiences in Nigeria.

MyFPTori is sponsored by The World Contraception Day (WCD) Ambassadors Project through the Rural Contraceptives Access Campaign (RCAC) project implemented in Nigeria by 2016 WCD ambassador – Adebisi Bidemi Adenipekun.

Adolescent Health Programs

LGHI is committed to adolescent health and development. As part of our efforts to reach adolescents, in the years 2010, 2014 and 2015, LGHI partnered with the Department of Adolescent Resource (DARE) of Evangelical Christian Union (ECU) in her conference for adolescents that camps over 200 adolescents annually. We educated participants on their sexual health and well-being.

Participating schools included Federal Government Colleges across southwestern states of Nigeria and some secondary schools within Osun State. This forum had high multiplier effect as participants were empowered to go back to their schools to influence their peers and feedbacks from participants have been inspiring.

Cervical Cancer Campaign

Our goal is to improve health and wellbeing of girls and women in Nigeria by reducing the prevalence of cervical cancer hence we launched the #SaveTheCervix campaign in 2015 to create awareness about cervical cancer, encourage women to go for cervical cancer screening and promote adolescents’ uptake of HPV vaccines.

Abagboro Village Outreach

LGHI is committed to giving vulnerable populations opportunity to lead healthy and productive lives. This has informed many of our outreaches to hard-to-reach rural communities. On the 6th of December 2008, we organized a village medical outreach at Abagboro village tagged “Malaria: Prevention and treatment”.

We educated the community members on how to prevent malaria which is a major disease plaguing our society (especially the rural dwellers who lives in farms) and also provided free medical check-up, consultations and medicines.

World Diabetes Day

On 14th November 2007, LGHI in collaboration with the Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN), Ile-Ife chapter held a public campaign to sensitize the community members about the prevalence, prevention, risk factors, signs, symptoms and management of diabetes. The health walk aimed at educating the community about lifestyle modifications that can prevent diabetes melitus and that aim was achieved.

NURTW Project

LGHI brought together the commercial bus drivers in Ile-Ife providing free medical check-up, consultations and medicines . The participants were educated by our technical persons on how to live a healthy life while they go about their daily work.

Waste bins were also distributed to encourage the drivers on the need to keep their buses clean. We also communicated the holistic perspective to health emphasizing the need for spiritual and mental well-being.

Your Health First Campaign

LGHI views exclusion from health insurance especially among low-income earners as a vulnerability. We therefore identify and reach people groups whose work expose them to health hazards and yet have no access to affordable medical care.
